How to Wear the Metallic Trend, Classically
Greetings Lovelies!
One of this year's popular trends is Metallic's. It's being displayed on the runway, in the latest fashion magazines, and in everyday street style. Metallic is definitely a way to make a statement, whether it's via a pleated skirt or a fab pair of metallic loafers. I am absolutely loving this trend. The silver and rose gold are my fave's at the moment. Although, I am all for this trend, it isn't necessarily for the faint of heart, especially if we're talking wearing full on metallic. (dress, maxi, etc.)
If you're a little unsure if you really are a fan of the metallic trend and don't want to necessarily commit or maybe you have more of a classic style aesthetic and you aren't too sure how to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe, then please keep reading. Here are some tips on how to slay the metallic trend and do so in a classic and stylish manner.
Tip #1-Start Small.
Implement this trend with subtle pops of metallic via your accessories whether that be with loafers, heels, sneakers, a belt, etc. You can also go a tad bit smaller and incorporate this trend via your nails. Chrome nails are so bomb right now and it's the perfect, subtle way to bring a futuristic, trendy, edgy vibe to your everyday look. Please Do Note: Depending on your profession, chrome nails may not be appropriate in all settings. However, I will definitely be partaking in this trend. Not to mention, Eniko Hart(Kevin Hart's wife) recently wore metallic nails for her wedding and it looked Oh So Fab!
Tip #2-Don't Over Do It.
Keep it simple. A head to toe metallic look isn't for the classic, modest, fashionista. Too much of it has the potential to come off as gaudy and tacky. So, if you want to up the ante a little bit try adding a rose gold or any color metallic moto jacket to an all black ensemble or add a metallic hat or cap to a otherwise nude or muted basic look.
Tip #3-Be Confident.
Wearing such an eye catching color/fabric/texture is going to garner stares and possible opinions. If you're not totally comfortable and confident, it will show. You must commit to your look, strut, and wear it proud!
Tip #4-Add Texture.
A metallic pleated skirt paired with a fuzzy sweater brings a classic and chic element to such a bold and edgy trend and it also softens the look.
Tip #5-Style it with Classic Pieces.
By pairing metallics with classic pieces, it brings a classic element to your look, as I have demonstrated in this post. I am wearing this beautiful classic midi dress from eshakti but I added a pop of metallic with my heels, added a studded belt and a moto jacket to modernize an otherwise classic garment. Another option is to style a pleated metallic skirt with a classic white button up top with or without a blazer.
If you were on the fence about this trend, hopefully my tips have given you a good starting place to slay the metallic trend. So please comment below and let me know if you are here for the metallic trend or nah?!
